What is Bharatnatyam Dancing?

Veena Agarwal: “Bharatanatyam, sometimes referred to as Bharathanatiyam or Sadir, is a major genre of Indian classical dance that originated in Tamil Nadu. Traditionally, Bharatanatyam has been a solo dance that was performed exclusively by women, and expressed Hindu religious themes and spiritual ideas, particularly of Shaivism, but also of Vaishnavism and Shaktism.”

How I got into Bharatnatyam Dancing?

Veena Agarwal: “I am a Bharatnatyam Guru and a Performer. I have been learning Bharatnatyam since I was 4 years old and I have performed in various areas in India and Bangkok as well. I did a post graduate degree in Bharatnatyam from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. I am teaching at my institute in Kanak Kala Kendra in Rajendra Nagar where people of all ages come to learn Bharatnatyam.”
