What is Forest & Wildlife Management?

Dr V B Mathur: “Forest management is a branch of forestry concerned with overall administrative, economic, legal, and social aspects, as well as scientific and technical aspects, such as silviculture, protection, and forest regulation. This includes management for aesthetics, fish, recreation, urban values, water, wilderness, wildlife, wood products, forest genetic resources, and other forest resource values.”

How I got into Forest & Wildlife Management?

Dr V B Mathur: “I did B Sc in Zoology, Botany & Chemistry and M Sc in Zoology from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. I obtained my Doctorate in Wildlife Ecology from University of Oxford, UK. I have served in Indian Forest Services for some time and over two decades at Wildlife Institute of India. I am Director at Wildlife Institute of India.”
